Q: How do I sell my items?
A: Just bring in your former favourites to the store and we will pick through them. What we pick out we price for the store. Of that price you get 25% in cash or cheque, 50% in trade. For more info, see our Buy/Sell/Trade page.
Q: Do I need an appointment to bring in items?
A: No. It’s first come first serve!
Q: When is a good time to come in to sell items?
A: During the week tends to be less busy but you can come in anytime, except during our sale days when it’s just too busy. Earlier in the day is also a good time to come.
Q: I’m in a rush, can I leave my items for a buyer to go through?
A: Yes. You can leave your items with your name and phone number overnight and come back the next day. Please note, that items left longer than 14 days will be donated to charity.
Q: What type of items do you take?
A: We take in adult men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, boots, purses, belts, and hats. We do not buy suits, formal wear, lingerie, wedding dresses, children's clothing or two-piece outfits. We do not buy jewelry.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: Exchange only. You have seven days to return items in purchased condition (check throughly before leaving store) for store credit. The price tag must be attached and you must have the receipt. Sale items are all final sale. No refunds.
Q: I lost my store credit note. Am I out of luck?
A: Nope, we have a record of your store credit and will honour your credit for the valid period of time. (12 months from date of issue.)
Q: Where does the name "Common Sort" come from?
A: The Common Sort was the name the upper class bestowed on the settlers coming to North America from Europe. The Common Sort worked hard to make a new life for their family and community. They are the fabric of our culture.
