About us

At Common Sort, we’re redefining what second-hand fashion can be.

Our stores are bright, clean, and thoughtfully organized with clothing steamed, sorted by colour and size, and merchandised with care.

We stock everything from Zara, Aritzia, J Crew and Lululemon to vintage gems and high-end pieces, all picked for their quality, style, and condition.

You’ll find low, mid, and high-end labels side by side, creating a shopping experience that feels more boutique than thrift, without the boutique price tag.

Our inventory comes almost entirely from our community. We buy, sell, and trade with the public every single day.

What ends up on our racks is carefully handpicked by our expert buyers, known for their keen eye and high standards. The result is a constantly evolving collection of curated one of a kind pieces, ready to be rediscovered.

We created Common Sort to be the store we want to shop at - stylish, sustainable, and welcoming.

Common Sort is a community-powered alternative to fast fashion. Keeping clothing in circulation, money in the community, and style in everyone’s reach.

We’re more than just great fashion.

We stay connected to the communities we serve by organizing clothing drives for the unhoused, sending supplies to northern Indigenous communities, and fundraising in response to humanitarian and climate crises.

We also use our platform to advocate for progressive change — from electoral reform to social justice.

Why Some Reviews Are Negative

And Why Our Stores Are Still Worth Visiting
(Our Unique Challenge)

If you’ve read some of our online reviews, you might be wondering what’s going on.

We get it — feedback matters.

But we also think it’s important to share some context about what makes Common Sort different, and why that sometimes leads to hard feelings.

At Common Sort, we buy clothing directly from the public. Every day, up to 100 people come in hoping to sell us their clothes across all of our locations.

That’s up to 300 bags of clothing every single day!

Because of that, our buyers have to make tough decisions — fast. Based on quality, style, season, and what our customers are currently shopping for.

A lot of the time, that means saying no.

Not because the clothes aren’t good, but because we’re committed to maintaining a very curated, high-quality selection.

Naturally, not everyone loves hearing “no.” Some people take it personally. And while we do our best to be kind, thoughtful, and clear, we’re also human — we don’t always get it right.

Many of the negative reviews you’ll see are from folks who didn’t have a successful selling experience. We understand their disappointment, but we hope that doesn’t stop you from discovering what makes our store special.

Behind every rack of great fashion is a thoughtful process — one that’s challenging, imperfect, and deeply intentional.

We hope you’ll visit and see for yourself why we’re the favourite store of many of our customers.
